Keyword Search Screen

Databases from different suppliers will have different interfaces. The search screens of most databases will have similar features.

This search screen from the database Expanded Academic Index ASAP illustrates features typical to many databases. Look for similar features on other databases as you use them.

Searching tips

When you are doing a database search why not try:

  • Combining keywords with a boolean operator to narrow or broaden your search results

  • Using the Advanced or Guided Search option if it is presented

  • Limiting your search to title, citation, abstract to refine the search results

  • Limiting your search by date to find more current material

  • Limiting your search to refereed or peer reviewed publications to locate more scholarly material
