Placing holds, renewing items and viewing borrower information in catalogue

You can place a Hold (reservation) on items, through the Catalogue, which are currently on loan.
Holds can be made only from an item's Brief Record/Full Record display.

To place a Hold, carry out the following steps:

  1. Search the Catalogue for the item you require. Click on the title to display the record.

  2. View the Brief/Full Record Display of the item. Check the status of the item. It must be out on loan for a hold to be placed.

  3. Click the Holds button on the toolbar at the top of the screen. If you have not previously logged in, the Login screen displays. Enter your Staff/Student Number and Family Name in the appropriate boxes and then click the Login button.

  4. Click OK for Hold on the Type of Request screen.

  5. On the Hold request form, click the Any Copy radio button.

  6. Enter your Staff/Student number.

  7. Do not alter pickup location! Macquarie University Library Holds must be collected from the Borrowing Counter.

  8. Enter the number of days after which you will not need the Hold in the Not Need After box.

  9. Click the Submit Request button.

  10. Once you have placed a Hold on an item, you can check its status by accessing your Borrower Information.

  11. You will be notified via your student email when your hold is ready to be collected.
