Finding a book

Books on reading lists can be found by:

  • Searching the Catalogue

  • Limiting your Catalogue search to the Reserve area of the library by using the Reserve Collection tab option and choosing your unit code.

Finding a book from your reading list

In this example you will search for the following book:

Nuttall, J. (2002) Introduction to Philosophy. Malden, MA: Blackwell.

Exercise

Select Library home page and follow the steps

  1. Select Catalogue

  2. Check to see that you are using the Quick Search tab.

  3. Enter the title of your book e.g Introduction to Philosophy in the search word field.

  4. In the Search type field, select Title (first words) click Go!

  5. Order your results by author by choosing Author in the Sort by drop down box.

  6. Scan the results for the book by Nuttall, J.

  7. Click on the title to reveal the Brief Record.

Searching tips

  • When searching for a book title using the Title (first words) option, do not use A, AN or THE at the beginning of the title.

  • Limit your search to the Reserve section only, by using the Reserve Collection tab option. From there you can select your unit code and view all texts for your unit that are available in the Reserve section of the Library.
