Using the Thesaurus in the database PsycINFO
PsycINFO Database has two ways of accessing the thesaurus. One
way is to click on Search Tools, and carry out
your search making sure that the Thesaurus tool button is selected.
The other way is to select the Map Term to Subject Heading
function in the default keyword search screen.

Select Library
home page and follow the steps

Navigate to the PsycINFO database

Tick the box Map Term to Subject Heading

Enter the phrase: emotional eating
and perform the search

From the list of subject headings that your search generated,
click on one of the subject headings to see a range of
Broader, Narrower and Related terms that could be used
in further searches

Searching tips
When searching with subject headings, choose the most specific
term. An article on depression would be more likely to be
assigned the subject heading Depression, not Emotional
States. |
